Hair Drug Screening

Hair Drug Testing has many advantages over urine drug testing. Drug metabolites embed themselves in the shaft of hair during use.

While most drug metabolites have left urine between 2-7 days (depending on the drug and the level of use) they remain embedded in the shaft of hair for much longer periods of time.

The industry standard is to obtain 1.5 inches of hair beginning at the scalp. This type of specimen can represent a 90 day history of the donors drug use. Bleaches, shampoos and external contaminants (such as marijuana smoke) have no effect on results.

This type of testing is most commonly done by suspicious employers or parents and is the most viable method used to prove or disprove drug use within the past 2-3 months.
